The Queensland Centre of Excellence in Autism and Intellectual Disability Health is recruiting general practices for the NHMRC-funded Bridge to Better Health study.
This research aims to improve health care for people with intellectual disability by supporting practice nurses to play a greater role in annual health assessments and preventive care.
Participating practices will receive:
- Specialist intellectual disability nursing support to assist practice nurses and general practices
- Co-designed online education and training focused on delivering high-quality healthcare for people with intellectual disability
- Practical clinical resources and tools to support annual health assessments and follow-up care.
Eligible practices must have at least one practice nurse and see patients with intellectual disability.
By participating, practices can strengthen staff knowledge and confidence, support improved health outcomes for people with intellectual disability, and contribute to addressing a significant area of unmet health need.
