5 April 2022  Victorian Department of Health

The Victorian Government is seeking members to join eight new mental health Interim Regional Bodies.

The Interim Regional Bodies are a recommendation of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, and will enable communities to contribute to decision making about mental health and wellbeing and alcohol and other drug treatment, care and support services in their region.

Through local engagement, the Bodies will assist and advise the Victorian Government as it plans and delivers mental health and wellbeing services and supports that meet local needs.

Supporting the recently appointed Chairs, members will play a vital role in building relationships with service providers and establishing strong community participation processes, such as community advisory committees.

Each Interim Regional Body will include at least one person with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress and at least one person with lived experience as a family member or carer.

The Interim Regional Bodies should reflect the rich diversity of each region, and applications from Victorians from diverse background are warmly encouraged.

Expressions of interest close on Friday 15 April 2022. The recruitment process is being managed by Fisher Leadership, and more information is available on the Boards Victoria website.
