Macedon Ranges Suicide Prevention Action Group (MRSPAG) transitional arrangements
August 2022 – September 2023
This activity was part of the Macedon Ranges Place-Based Suicide Prevention Trials
Macedon Ranges
Overview
From 2017 to 2022, North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) supported the planning and delivery of the Macedon Ranges Place-Based Suicide Prevention Trial to reduce rates of suicide, improve people’s resilience, and improve the wellbeing of their communities.
With the place-based suicide prevention trials ending in June 2022, NWMPHN have funded Macedon Ranges Shire Council to employ a locally based coordinator to support the transition from the Macedon Ranges Place-Based Suicide Prevention Trial governance arrangements and operational activity to a new local, community based model Macedon Ranges Suicide Prevention Action Group (MRSPAG).
This support will focus on ensuring that MRSPAG and participating partners have appropriate structures in place to engage in the planning and delivery of suicide prevention activities and projects for the Macedon Ranges community.
The locally based coordinator will work to support the transition to the new governance arrangements and embed best operational practice and processes.
Outcomes
It is expected that through this project, partners will continue to engage in the planning and delivery of suicide prevention activities and projects for the Macedon Ranges community through their membership with MRSPAG, ensuring sustainability and continuation of the work and achievements of the Macedon Ranges Place-Based Suicide Prevention Trials.
