Overview
CatholicCare’s alcohol and other drug (AOD) program offers information and treatment support to adults from Vietnamese, African, and Burmese communities. It incorporates a community-based approach to address the complex needs of individuals struggling with AOD concerns and their affected family members.
The program delivers these services delivers the following services:
- counselling
- information, education and advice
- case management and care coordination
- advocacy.

Outcomes
Holistic therapeutic support: A comprehensive approach that incorporates cultural safety and trauma-informed practices, encouraging family involvement in an individual’s recovery journey.
Partnerships and linkages: Linking consumers in with other services available at CatholicCare, fostering strong relationships with community leaders and external agencies, building trust and respect within the community to support referral processes, connections, and pathways.
Psychosocial funding grant: The program has received two rounds of psychosocial grants for 2023-24 and 2024-25. This is designed to enhance the capacity of the AOD program, specifically to support individuals with psychosocial issues and AOD comorbidities.
