Northern Health (NH) seeks a general practitioner to join its new multidisciplinary Osteoporosis Improvement Working Group. North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) is assisting in this process.
The group will provide clinical leadership, multidisciplinary oversight and governance to support improvements in osteoporosis care across the NH region.
The working group will guide the development and implementation of a model of care focused on:
- improving osteoporosis identification, assessment and treatment
- strengthening secondary fracture prevention
- promoting equitable access to evidence-based care and treatment
- improving patient outcomes and quality of life
- supporting integration and collaboration across primary, specialist and hospital care settings
GP participation is critical to ensuring the model reflects the realities of general practice and can be effectively implemented in community settings.
Time commitment
During the working group’s 12-month establishment phase, meetings will be held approximately every two months. These will be conducted online, most likely on Thursday afternoons, and last for an hour.
Members will also be expected to complete a small amount of out-of-session review and consultation, generally for a few hours per month
After the establishment phase, meetings will take place on an as-needed basis.
Meetings are expected to move to an as-needed basis after the initial 12 months
Who should apply
Expressions of interest are welcome from GPs who:
- have an interest in osteoporosis management, healthy ageing, musculoskeletal health or fracture prevention
- are committed to improving patient outcomes and health system integration
- bring experience and insights from contemporary general practice
The successful applicant will remunerated for their time in with NWMPHN’s Stakeholder Reimbursement Policy.
