The alcohol and other drug program at NWMPHN is located within the Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Service Redesign team and sits alongside mental health and suicide prevention activities. Our PHN recognises the current challenges faced by people experiencing harm from their alcohol, methamphetamine and/or other drug use, and those who support them within our region and beyond.
The focus of the NWMPHN Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) program is to commission AOD services that prioritise populations of need in locations of need.
Our Regional Health Needs Assessment identifies a range of Local Government Areas within the catchment which have populations experiencing greater levels of related harm than state and national averages. It has been identified as a key priority health issue and noted as an area that the PHN has opportunities to support more integrated responses across the health system.
NWMPHN is working with our community to develop a blueprint for integrated mental health, alcohol and other drugs and suicide prevention services in our region.
