From midday on Friday 20 March, medical practitioners seeking advice about COVID-19 (outside of testing and notification procedures) can call the DHHS Communicable Diseases Section on 1300 651 160 and choose the ‘Specialist Medical Advice’ option. Pending demand, you may be asked to leave a message for return phone call.

Please note: notification of suspected cases is no longer required.

If you suspect you may have the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), please call either the:

  • Dedicated DHHS hotline on 1800 675 398
  • National hotline on 1800 020 080

Both lines will connect you to a registered nurse if needed.
