In 2015, the Federal Government outlined national priorities for PHNs to target for improvement: mental health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, population health, health workforce, eHealth and aged care (Department of Health 2015a).
Our role is to work with the federal priorities and investigate the specific health needs of the population in our region. By working with our communities, health professionals and others, and analysing a wide range of information and data, we look for inefficiencies, duplication, gaps and areas for improvement.
Our Annual Health Needs Assessment is the culmination of research, interrogation and analysis of health data relevant to the north-western Melbourne region. This report identifies trends and focuses on the key health priority areas relevant to this region. Each priority area has its own unique set of activities which specifically address the needs of our community.
…as a targeter of needs we understand and identify health needs, establish priorities, and plan, advocate and collaborate to meet them.
