Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) hotlines for health workers and our community.

  • For general practice and primary health care services

    Medical practitioners seeking advice about COVID-19 (outside of testing and notification procedures) can call the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services Communicable Diseases Section on 1300 651 160. Pending demand, you may be asked to leave a message for return phone call.

    Press option 0 for ‘COVID-19, novel coronavirus or calling to let us know you have been at an exposure site in Victoria or elsewhere’.

    • Press option 4 for ‘medical practitioner’. This is a priority line.

    • Triage will then assess and transfer or redirect to the Case Contact Outbreak Management central team or Local Public Health Unit that is managing the exposure site.

    Notifying DHHS of a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis can be done online. You can submit an online form to the public health team, rather than calling, saving you time and resolving your case load more efficiently.

    If you suspect you may have the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), please call either the:

    • Dedicated Victorian Department of Health and Human Services hotline on 1800 675 398
    • National hotline on 1800 020 080

    Both lines will connect you to a registered nurse if needed.
