Presented by Dr Peter Eizenberg, the Vaccination Update will cover topics including:

  • Novel Coronavirus update
  • Recommendations for the 2020 influenza season and revision of 2019 season
  • Measles outbreak news and updated recommendations
  • AEFI reporting and SMARTVAX
  • Expanded availability of free adult hepatitis B vaccination
  • Pneumococcal and the proposed changes to adult recommendations
  • The GP role in active surveillance and reporting Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI’s)

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify which vaccines are available and recommended for patients and at what ages
  • Discuss the updates regarding the Novel Coronavirus and upcoming influenze season (2020)
  • Review recommendations for immunisation for protection against seasonal influenza, hepatitis B, invasive pneumococcal disease, pertussis, measles, & shingles (zoster).
  • Demonstrate awareness of how to manage Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI), reporting AEFI’s and the GP role in active surveillance  

Speaker Bio 
Dr Peter Eizenberg

While maintaining his General Practice commitments as Director of 'Doctors of Ivanhoe', Dr Eizenberg is a current member of AusVaxSafety Advisory Committee, Influenza Specialist Group & Immunisation Coalition SAC. 

Dr Eizenberg's additional roles have included; Former Executive Director of the North East Valley Division of General Practice, Immunisation representative for the Australian General Practice Network (AGPN); member of the National Immunisation Committee (NIC); Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) Management Committee; GP Immunisation Incentives Advisory Group (GPIIAG); Scientific Advisory Committee at National Centre for Immunisation Research & Surveillance (NCIRS); member of Reference Group of NHMRC Centre for Clinical Research Excellence in Child and Adolescent Immunisation, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute & Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, and has contributed to the ATAGI e-Handbook Working Group and the Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute at Australian National University, among many others.
