This informative and interactive training will aim to improve the confidence of GPs to effectively identify populations suitable for the use of PrEP and to confidently prescribe as a strategy for the prevention of HIV transmission.

Pre Exposure Prophyslaxis (PrEP) has been proven highly effective at reducing HIV transmission and there has been an increased community demand for the prescription of PrEP.
On the 1st of  April 2018, PrEP was  listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). GPs are now be able to prescribe PrEP, and community pharmacies are able to dispense it.

While the session is targeting GPs, we encourage nurses and other primary care practitioners to also attend.

Presenter:
This session will be facilitated by Dr Matt Penn an experienced GP and HIV and HBV s100 Prescriber at Pronto, North Richmond and Centre Clinic. Dr Penn is also an educator at the HIV and HBV s100 Prescriber Accreditation Courses
