Primary Health Care Seminar & Dinner Legal and Clinical Implications of the Act

You are invited to attend this important forum which will feature presentations and a Q&A on the implementation of the Medical Treatment Planning and Decisions Act 2016.

These sessions will be facilitated by consumer, legal, medical and health practitioners followed by a Q & A panel with representatives from the:

  • Victorian Office of the Public Advocate
  • Victorian Department of Health and Human Services
  • Bendigo Health
  • Northern Health

Learning outcomes:

The objectives of the forum are to:

  • outline key Victorian legislative changes to advance care planning and medical consent and the impact of the Act on primary care delivery
  • legislative requirements for general practitioners when witnessing advance care directives and appointments under the Medical Treatment Planning and Decisions Act 2016
  • communication strategies around advance care planning for patients, caregivers, families and health practitioners
  • assist health practitioners in developing skills in advance care planning conversation, processes, systems and documentation
  • on organisational readiness for the implementation of the Medical Treatment Planning and Decisions Act 2016 including workflow and storage of documentation
