The LGBTIQA+ Affirmative Healthcare series is designed to encourage GPs and other health care professionals in the Macedon Ranges and surrounding regional areas to build their capacity to provide affirming and person-centred care to LGBTIQA+ patients and service users.

By embedding LGBTIQA+ affirmative care into our practices, we can overcome the health disparity between LGBTIQA+ people and the broader community, and move towards a more equitable health system for everyone.

Participate in this online training session and:

  • Consolidate your understanding of what it means to have an intersex variation
  • Learn about intersex health, wellbeing and human rights
  • Deepen your knowledge about the intersex community and allyship

The session is informed by current research and nuanced by the lived-experience of the trainers.

The workshop will be facilitated by Bonnie Hart and Cody Smith from Intersex Peer Support Australia (IPSA), also known as the Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group Australia. IPSA is possibly the oldest known intersex organisation in the world, established in 1985. Run by volunteers, it provides peer and family support, information, training and advocacy for people with intersex variations.

This workshop has been made possible with funding from North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network.

To ensure they are COVID-safe, the training series will be delivered online – registrants will be emailed a Zoom link prior to the event.
