An interactive evening of presentations, case studies, practical demonstrations and panel discussion relating to best-practice for common foot and ankle fractures. An update will also be given on the recently implemented Western Health Virtual Fracture Care (V-FRAC) aimed at improving patient access to fracture management.

Join us for an evening of interactive learning and conversation, delivered by senior Western Health Orthopaedic consultants, Advanced Practice Physiotherapists and Plaster technicians.  Find out the latest in best-practice for common foot and ankle fractures through a series of consultant-led presentations, case studies and practical demonstrations. The evening will conclude with a panel discussion for difficult cases and future opportunities for enhancing communication between GPs and Western Health.

Learning outcomes:

by the end of this session, you will be able to: 

  • Confidently support and educate patients through the early stages of healing for common foot and ankle fractures, based on ‘condition specific pathways’ developed by Orthopaedic surgeons
  • Identify and interpret X-ray signs of healing for common foot and ankle fractures,
  • Identify fractures where CAM boot management is appropriate and the steps involved with CAM boot fitting
  • Discuss the role of the Western Health Virtual Fracture Care (V-FRAC), and the benefits for GPs and patients
