This evening will involve a short clinical update on current HCV treatment regimens, including HCV natural history, testing, test interpretation and monitoring, before moving into an interactive Hepatitis C case discussion session.

The case discussion session will be designed to suit clinicians who treat patients with Hepatitis C or clinicians/primary care practitioners who are interested in increasing their knowledge of Hepatitis C treatments. Attendees are welcome to bring their own cases to the session for discussion.

This interactive case discussion session will be facilitated by:

Associate Professor Joe Sasadeusz, Infectious Diseases Physician at the Hepatitis Clinic - The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Learning outcomes:

  • Describe natural history of hepatitis C virus infection
  • Know when to test for hepatitis C virus infection
  • Know how to interpret test results and diagnose hepatitis C virus infection
  • Know how to prescribe direct acting antiviral treatment for hepatitis C virus in consultation with a specialist
  • Know how to monitor patients on direct acting antiviral treatment and assess if treatment has been curative
