The Foot Assessment Program is designed for a range of health professionals to provide opportunity to gain or consolidate knowledge and skills in basic foot care assessment, management and referral.

In the current status of the current COVID-19 health emergency, this session is scheduled to progress as planned.

Should the advice from the Chief Health Officer escalate mitigations to minimise public gatherings, we will have to reconsider.

We will keep you informed of any changes as they become known to us.

This one-day session explores how to perform basic foot care assessment, determine foot care requirements and use basic equipment and topical medications where the service of a professional podiatrist are not required.

Nationally accredited and evidence based, the techniques taught within this program are designed to promote the best practice outcome for patient care.
This workshop involves a presentation of content and practical activities where students will be performing vascular, sensorinerual and dermatological group-based foot health assessment activities. These include doppler ankle-brachial indicator (ABI), toe pressure, monofilament and vibration assessments

The Foot Health Assessment Program includes a one-day face to face workshop, in class activities assessed by the facilitator, workplace activity, and an online assessment completed via BenchmarqueIQ

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Diagnose and determine foot care requirements for the patient
  • Safely perform basic foot care assessments
  • Utilise basic equipment and range of topical medications for patient care where service of professional podiatrist not required

***COVID-19 update to everyone registering for our training and events***

The situation is continuing to evolve quickly. At present there are a small number of confirmed cases in Victoria and all our events will go ahead as planned.

Nonetheless, it is critical that we all remember the principles of infection control and take extra steps to guard against the spread of COVID-19:

  • WASH your hands often with soap and running water, for at least 20 seconds. DRY with paper towel or hand dryer.

  • TRY not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.

  • COVER your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow.

  • HAND SANITISER is available in all our meeting rooms. Please use this.

  • SHAKING HANDS is optional!

  • MAINTAIN at least 1 metre distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

  • DON’T ATTEND if you are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (fever, breathing difficulties such as breathlessness, cough, sore throat, fatigue or tiredness).

  • If you have any of the symptoms above and travelled overseas recently or been in close contact with someone who has coronavirus, visit dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus and follow the latest advice for the Victorian public.
