This webinar will update GPs on the latest cervical and breast cancer screening, assessment and referral guidelines. It will cover how to assess a patient’s risk profile, recommended screening and interventions based on their risk including preventative surgery, and assessment of clinical concerns and abnormal investigations.
Presented by leading gynaecology and oncology experts, this webinar will provide an update on the latest evidence to support GPs in their screening, assessment and referral of people for cancer of the cervix and breast. It will cover when to screen and which tests are appropriate for people with different risk profiles, including those with familial cancer gene variations or mutations. Topics will include:
Cervical cancer
- Screening options for patients at various risk profiles including where self-collection is appropriate.
- Visually atypical and abnormal presentations of the cervix.
- Colposcopy – when is it done and what the findings mean.
- Treatment options for cervical dysplasia.
Breast cancer
- Evaluation of a patient’s risk.
- Screening options for patients at different risk profiles.
- Management options for high-risk, asymptomatic patients including preventative surgery.

Mr C. David H. Wrede, Consultant Gynaecologist, Lead for Dysplasia - The Royal Women's Hospital
Mr C. David H. Wrede is an experienced surgical gynaecologist, who is a consultant and lead for dysplasia and familial cancer services at The Royal Women’s Hospital. He is also an honorary senior lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health at the University of Melbourne and an honorary consultant to the Familial Cancer Clinic at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Prof Bruce Mann - The Royal Women's Hospital, Specialist Surgeon / Director of the Breast Service, Royal Women’s Hospital
Professor Bruce Mann is a specialist breast surgeon. He is a professor of surgery at the University of Melbourne, director of the breast service for the Royal Melbourne and Royal Women's hospitals, and director of the breast tumour stream for the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre. His particular interest is in optimising treatment for those with very early breast cancer.
Learning outcomes:

- Demonstrate how to determine a person’s risk of cervical and breast cancer, and select appropriate screening tools dependent on a person’s risk
- Assess abnormal or atypical presentations of the cervix and changes in the breast
- Describe the criteria for referral to a tertiary service for further investigation and management
