Don’t duck for cover or reach for the nearest tube of hydrocortisone when your patients present with a rash - treating skin conditions is fun and rewarding!

This session aims to help fine-tune how you interpret the language of the skin, whilst providing an update on diagnosis and management of common skin conditions.

Dermatology contributes up to 15% of the total general practice case-mix. Even seemingly minor skin ailments can profoundly impact patients’ self-esteem, relationships, workforce participation and quality of life. This is due to the visible nature of skin disease, presence of recalcitrant itch and pain, and the social stigma of skin disease.

Successfully treating patients’ skin disease can be transformative!

SPEAKER:
Dr Joshua Elakis, FACD
Joshua Elakis is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, and a visiting medical officer at Footscray Hospital and University Hospital Geelong. He enjoys all aspects of medical and surgical dermatology, and is especially interested in medical education.

Learning outcomes:

  • Confidently diagnose common skin diseases.
