The Breast Cancer Update will inform primary care practitioners on the latest evidence based breast cancer care.

General practitioners, practice nurses and allied health professionals are invited to attend this informative education session which will cover common breast cancer issues faced in general practice. 

Facilitator: Ms Meron Pitcher, Breast and General Surgeon 

Topics to be covered:

  • Current indications of genetic testing for breast cancer- Dr Shirley Wong, Medical Oncologist 
  • Survivorship: Keeping well after cancer- Ms Sophie Nightingale, Breast Surgeon and Ms Melanie Fisher, Breast Care Nurse 
  • New medications and their side effects- Dr Catherine Oakman, Oncologist

Learning outcomes:

  • Explore the current indications of genetic testing for breast cancer
  • Demonstrate awareness of breast cancer survivorship issues and implement strategies to help improve health and wellbeing
  • Understand the use of new medications in the management of breast cancer and explain their potential side effects
